My Curriculum Vitae

Name: Vanessa Raney

Ambition: To complete a bilingual book in Croatian and English, along with other related projects including poetry, animated GIFs (two published), and essays. My vision, however, is much bigger, and that involves the integration of bilingual works where one language cannot be read in absence of the other.

In other news, you can find my first interview (in Croatian) here: http://m.tportal.hr/vijesti/404735/Ova-Amerikanka-obozava-Narodni-radio-i-kaze-Hrvatska-jedina-zemlja-u-kojoj-se-osjecam-kao-doma.html (just note that my last name isn't Smiles, but Raney).

From 5-8 Dec. 2013, I was a fellowship participant in the first-time program offering at Sa(n)jam Knjige u Istri (19th Annual Book Fair in Istria, held through 15 Dec.) which presented an opportunity to speak with publishers. However, they were more interested in signing contracts for translations of already published works based on the promise of money from the Ministry of Culture. So this didn't pan out for me.
